Your 2027 Jeep Wrangler tells you when it needs an oil change: the oil change indicator reads Oil Change Required, and Jeep asks you to service the vehicle within the next 500 miles. The longest the oil can go is 10,000 miles on the 2.0L turbo, 7,500 miles on the 3.6L V6 and 6,000 miles or six months on the 6.4L V8, and every one of those limits shrinks for towing, short trips and extreme heat or cold. Everything below comes from Jeep's 2027 owner's manual, laid out by milestone.
Salt reaches the underside of a Cape Wrangler from two directions, spread on the road all winter and carried in the air the rest of the year, so the inspection items on this schedule matter as much here as the oil does. Premier Cape Cod's service department keeps Wranglers from Falmouth, Plymouth and Marshfield on that schedule. Book at our Jeep service page, or see the 2027 Wrangler research hub for the full picture.

2027 Wrangler Recommended Maintenance Schedule
At Every Oil Change
Each oil change is also a small inspection. Along with the oil and filter, the schedule calls for a tire rotation, and Jeep adds that you should rotate at the first sign of irregular wear even if the indicator has not come on. It also covers inspection of the 12-volt battery and terminals, the CV and universal joints, the brake pads, rotors, hoses and parking brake, the cooling system hoses and protection, and the exhaust system. If the Wrangler works in dusty or off-road conditions, the engine air filter gets inspected too, and the door latches get a grease check.
Once a Month or Before a Long Trip
Check the engine oil level, windshield washer fluid, tire pressure and tire wear. Look at the coolant reservoir and the brake master cylinder and power steering fluid levels, and check every light. Twice a year, lubricate the door hinge joints with white lithium grease, which matters on a Wrangler whose doors come off.
Oil Change Intervals and Recommended Oil
| Engine | Oil change never to exceed | Recommended oil |
|---|
| 2.0L turbo | 10,000 miles, 12 months or 350 engine hours | SAE 5W-30 full synthetic, API SP/GF-6A |
| 3.6L Pentastar V6 | 7,500 miles, 12 months or 350 engine hours | SAE 0W-20 full synthetic or 5W-20 |
| 6.4L HEMI SRT V8 | 6,000 miles or six months | SAE 0W-40 full synthetic |
Those are outer limits. The oil change indicator decides when it is time, and towing, frequent short trips and extreme heat or cold bring the message sooner. The indicator on the 6.4L does not track time, so change that engine's oil at six months even if the message is not showing, and at 4,000 miles or 350 hours if the Wrangler runs in dust, off-road or mostly at idle.
Fuel is part of the routine. The 2.0L turbo and the 3.6L V6 run on regular unleaded, premium gives the V6 no benefit, and 91-octane premium lets the turbo perform at its best in hot weather or under a tow. The 6.4L requires 91-octane premium. Ethanol blends above 15 percent, including E85, are not for these engines.
Major Service Milestones
| Mileage | What the schedule calls for |
|---|
| Every 12,000 miles | Replace the cabin air filter |
| 20,000 miles, then every 20,000 | Inspect brake linings, the front suspension and tie rod ends, and adjust the parking brake on four-wheel disc brakes |
| 30,000 miles, then every 30,000 | Replace the engine air cleaner filter; inspect the transfer case fluid |
| 60,000 miles | 2.0L spark plugs; inspect the front and rear axle fluid |
| 100,000 miles | 3.6L spark plugs; inspect and replace the PCV valve if necessary |
| 120,000 miles | 2.0L spark plugs again |
| 150,000 miles | Replace the accessory drive belt |
| 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first | Flush and replace the engine coolant |
A Wrangler that tows often or spends time off-road moves some of these up: axle fluid gets changed at 40,000, 80,000 and 120,000 miles, the transfer case fluid at 60,000 and 120,000 miles, and a manual transmission's fluid at every 30,000 miles. The 6.4L has its own schedule, built around oil and filter changes every 6,000 miles or six months, with a transfer case drain and refill at three of the later stops.

Common 2027 Wrangler Service Items
Brakes and Suspension
Brake linings, the front and rear suspension and the tie rod ends come up every 20,000 miles, and the pads, rotors, hoses and parking brake get a look at every oil change. Salt and sand grit are the local reasons to take the brake check seriously.
Tires
Rotation rides with every oil change, and tire pressure and wear are a monthly check. Beach days that call for lowered tire pressure also call for putting the pressure back before the drive home on Route 6.
Fluids and Filters
The engine air filter changes every 30,000 miles and the cabin air filter every 12,000. Engine coolant is a 10-year, 150,000-mile OAT formula. Axle and transfer case fluids are inspected on a rolling schedule and changed sooner for towing or off-road use.
Battery, Belts and Hoses
The 12-volt battery, its terminals and the cooling hoses are checked at every oil change, and the accessory drive belt is replaced at 150,000 miles.
2027 Wrangler Reliability and Durability
Jeep builds the Wrangler on a high-strength steel frame with heavy-duty axles and proven 4x4 systems, and steel skid plates help protect the fuel tank, transfer case and transmission. The engines carry a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which covers the cylinder block and internal engine parts, the transmission and the drive systems.
Climate is what ties this schedule to the Cape. Winter road salt builds on the bridges and Route 6 from December, salt air does its work the rest of the year, and the sand from Old Silver Beach to the Cape Cod National Seashore gets into everything. A rinse of the undercarriage after beach days and a close look at the brakes, exhaust and cooling hoses at each oil change keep a Wrangler ready for the next trip.
What a 2027 Wrangler Costs to Own
Ownership comes down to four things on a Wrangler. The oil change indicator keeps visits as infrequent as your driving allows, the 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty cover factory defects, the EPA rates the turbo at 21 mpg combined, and the V6 at 19, and the V8 asks for premium. Mopar also offers prepaid oil-and-filter plans for owners who want to bundle visits.
| Coverage | Term |
|---|
| Basic limited warranty | 3 years or 36,000 miles |
| Powertrain limited warranty | 5 years or 60,000 miles |
| Roadside assistance | 5 years or 60,000 miles |
