Towing with the correct configuration

The properly equipped model maximum of 12,750 pounds belongs to a qualifying 5.7-liter eTorque configuration. It is not the TRX tow rating. For a boat near Falmouth or Chatham, account for the trailer, fuel and gear as loaded, then verify the truck's cab, axle, drive configuration and complete applicable limits before choosing it.

Payload and the frame

The model's maximum payload is up to 2,300 pounds in its qualifying configuration, separate from the maximum tow arrangement. Occupants, accessories, bed cargo and trailer tongue load all compete for the chosen truck's available carrying capacity.

TRX supercharged V8

TRX uses the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 rated at 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft, with its own suspension and capability specification. Its properly equipped towing ceiling is 8,100 pounds, not the range's 12,750-pound maximum.

Quad Cab and Crew Cab fit

The DT Ram 1500 offers Quad Cab and Crew Cab arrangements. Factory rear legroom is 35.6 inches in Quad Cab and 45.2 in Crew Cab, making regular adult passengers a meaningful part of the comparison. Quad Cab uses the 6-foot-4-inch bed, while Crew Cab has short- and longer-bed configurations.
