Jeep offers the turbo across all trims, paired with an 8-speed automatic. EPA rates it at 20 mpg city, 23 highway and 21 combined on the 2-door, and 20 city, 22 highway and 21 combined on the 4-door. It has the highest combined EPA rating of the three engines, and it runs on regular unleaded; 91-octane premium lets it perform at its best, most noticeably in hot weather or while towing.
The V6 is offered on Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon and Rubicon X, with Engine Stop/Start and your choice of a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic. EPA rates the 2-door manual at 17 city, 23 highway and 19 combined, the 4-door automatic at 17, 22 and 19, and the 4-door manual at 16, 22 and 19. It also runs on regular unleaded, and premium gasoline gives it no extra performance.
The V8 is reserved for the Willys 392 and the Moab 392, both 4-doors with an 8-speed automatic. Jeep quotes 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds, and the engine requires 91-octane premium. EPA rates it at 13 city, 16 highway and 14 combined. Properly equipped, the 392 models tow up to 3,500 lbs.

The Sport is the clean-sheet Wrangler: removable doors, a fold-down windshield, 4x4 and the 3.6L V6. Sport S adds equipment buyers ask about most: heated mirrors and proximity keyless entry come standard, and a heated steering wheel and remote start open up as options.
Willys trims the cabin extras and keeps the trail hardware, which is why the 4-door Willys, properly equipped, carries the same 5,000-lb tow rating Jeep gives the Rubicon and Rubicon X. The Willys 392 swaps in the 6.4L V8.
Sahara is the Wrangler for a daily commute and a weekend top-down run in the same week. Navigation, a power driver's seat, McKinley-trimmed seating and an integrated off-road camera come standard on the Sahara, and the Sahara pairs with either the 2.0L turbo or the 3.6L V6.
Rubicon centers on the Rock-Trac 4x4 system with its 4:1 low range and Tru-Lok electronic locking differentials, which Jeep says can deliver a crawl ratio of up to 100:1. Rubicon X layers top-trim equipment over that hardware, and Moab 392 puts the V8 into the fullest-equipped Wrangler in the family.
Jeep's limited-edition program has produced four 2027 Wranglers so far: the Laredo, the Smoky Mountain, the Sarge and the JL-2A. The Laredo returns after nearly four decades, pairing the Willys look outside with a Sahara-based cabin, and it comes in 2-door or 4-door with a tan canvas soft top or an available black hardtop. The 2027 Wrangler holds the three-engine, four-4x4-system formula steady and puts the news in two places: the cabin and the limited editions. Jeep says the 2027 cabin is the quietest of any Wrangler it has built, a change you notice on every highway run with the top on. The limited editions come in a steady stream, because Jeep is releasing one special Wrangler a month for twelve months, in limited quantities. The 2027 names so far are the returning Laredo, the Smoky Mountain, the Sarge, which honors Jeep's military heritage, and the JL-2A, a tribute to the original Willys CJ-2A in 2-door or 4-door, with 33-inch all-terrain tires and a Bison Brown interior with Heritage Tan Nappa leather-trimmed seats.
A 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen comes on the 2027 Wrangler lineup, and Jeep calls it the largest in its class. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto run wirelessly, Bluetooth handles hands-free calling and streaming, and over-the-air updates keep features current. Jeep also offers a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot for up to eight devices within 50 feet, programmable auxiliary switches for lights and accessories, a 7-inch Digital Cluster Display and the Off-Road Info Pages package, which puts pitch, roll and steering angle on the dash, as add-ons.
The 2-door seats four and the 4-door seats five. Jeep says the 2027 cabin is the quietest a Wrangler has had, a real change for highway runs over the Sagamore Bridge. Heated mirrors are standard on the Sport S, Willys and Sahara, a heated steering wheel is standard on the Rubicon, Sahara and Rubicon X, and the Sahara and Rubicon X carry premium seat trim as standard, McKinley-trimmed on the Sahara and Nappa leather on the Rubicon X.
Maximum towing depends on the body and the hardware. Properly equipped, the 4-door Willys, Rubicon and Rubicon X tow up to 5,000 lbs, which Jeep calls best in class. Properly equipped, the 4-door Sport and Sport S tow 3,500 lbs, as do the V8-powered Willys 392 and Moab 392, and the properly equipped 2-door tows up to 2,000 lbs. That puts a pop-up camper or a small boat off the ramp at Sesuit Harbor within reach of the right 4-door.
Cargo is as practical as the body. The 4-door holds 31.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 72.4 cubic feet with them folded, and fuel capacity is 21.5 gallons. Four 4x4 systems cover everything from slick shoulders to soft sand. Command-Trac is part-time with a 2.72:1 low range, Selec-Trac is full-time with the same low range, and Rock-Trac, standard on Rubicon and Rubicon X, brings a 4:1 low range in part-time form, with a full-time version available. For rough ground, Jeep lists up to 47.4 degrees of available approach angle on the 4-door, up to 32.4 degrees of breakover on the 2-door with 35-inch tires and up to 34 inches of water fording.
Access to beach driving here is a permit question before it is a clearance one. Sandy Neck in Barnstable and the Cape Cod National Seashore both ask for a permit before a vehicle touches the sand. A Wrangler is the vehicle most Cape owners buy with those permits in mind.
The open-air side is just as complete. Five roof choices are offered: a body-color Freedom Top three-piece hardtop, a black Freedom Top three-piece hardtop, a premium black Sunrider soft top, a black Sunrider soft top for the hardtop and a Sky One-Touch power top. A quick-release hinge system lets you take the doors off without tools.
The Wrangler's high-strength steel frame is engineered as part of its safety system. Jeep's driver-assistance menu includes full-speed forward collision warning with active braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross path detection; automatic high-beam headlamps and rear parking sensors are also on the list. Of the trims, the Sahara, Rubicon X and both 392 models carry blind spot monitoring as standard.
