The 2027 Ram 1500 Crew Cab measures 232.4 inches long and 81.2 inches wide with the mirrors out, carries 26 gallons of fuel, seats six, and tows up to 11,530 lbs or carries up to 2,340 pounds of payload depending on which of the four gas engines is under the hood. Every figure below is a published specification at the configuration named beside it, because on a full-size pickup the configuration is the number. The lineup overview is on the 2027 Ram 1500 page and the ladder is on the trims page.

Engine Specifications

Five gas engines appear across the 2027 Ram 1500 range, all with an eight-speed automatic. Four are lineup engines; the supercharged 6.2L V8 is the halo powertrain used by the TRX SRT and the Rumble Bee SRT.

3.6L Pentastar V6

305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft, on regular fuel. It is the payload leader of the range and the efficiency leader at the same time. In Warlock four-wheel-drive form it is EPA-rated as a mild hybrid.

3.0L Hurricane inline-six

A twin-turbocharged gas inline-six in two states of tune. Standard Output makes 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft on regular; High Output makes 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft and asks for premium. The Standard-Output version is the one that carries the lineup's maximum tow rating.

5.7L HEMI V8

395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft, available on select 2027 Ram 1500 models, rated on midgrade fuel. Offered with and without eTorque, and the two are rated differently by the EPA.

6.2L supercharged HEMI V8

777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft, on premium. Fitted to the TRX SRT and the Rumble Bee SRT.

Choosing between them

The spread between these five engines is unusually wide for a half-ton, and it is not a simple ladder where more money buys more of everything. The V6 carries the most weight and uses the least fuel. The Standard-Output Hurricane tows the most and still runs on regular. The High-Output Hurricane makes the most power of any lineup engine and tows the least of the three big ones. The HEMI sits within 60 lbs of the Hurricane's tow rating and asks for midgrade. Pick the column that matches the job and the trim follows; pick the trim first and you can end up paying for power that costs you 460 pounds of payload.

Exterior Dimensions for Cape Cod Driveways

MeasurementCrew Cab
Overall length232.4 inches
Width with mirrors81.2 inches
Bed length5.5 feet
GVWR, Big Horn Crew Cab6,900 pounds

Two of those numbers do real work on this peninsula. At 232.4 inches, a Crew Cab is a shade over 19 feet, which is longer than a great many older Cape driveways and most municipal parking bays in Hyannis and Falmouth. At 81.2 inches across the mirrors, it is wider than a standard single garage door opening, so folding mirrors are not a luxury feature here. The Rumble Bee is a separate case: its stance is quoted at 88 inches, which is wider again.

Length is the figure that catches Cape buyers out rather than width. A great many houses between Hyannis and Falmouth were built with driveways sized for a sedan, and 19 feet of Crew Cab plus a hitch-mounted bike rack does not fit where an SUV does. The Quad Cab configurations are shorter in the cab and longer in the box, which changes where the length goes without changing much of the total, so the useful exercise before ordering is a tape measure on your own driveway rather than a comparison against another truck.

Interior Dimensions and Capacity

MeasurementCrew Cab
Front head room40.9 inches
Front leg room40.9 inches
Front shoulder room66.0 inches
Seating capacity6
Fuel capacity26 gallons

66.0 inches of front shoulder room is the figure that decides whether three across the front bench is genuinely usable, and at that width it is. The 26-gallon tank is the other quietly useful number: a full tank plus a loaded bed covers a long weekend between Barnstable and Marshfield without a fuel stop, which matters more in July when every station on Route 132 has a queue.

Capacity and Capability by Configuration

Towing and payload move with the engine, and the two peaks belong to different trucks. Every figure applies when the truck is properly equipped.

ConfigurationMaximum towingMaximum payload
3.0L Hurricane, Standard Output11,530 lbs1,880 pounds
5.7L HEMI V811,470 lbs1,760 pounds
3.0L Hurricane, High Output9,480 lbs1,530 pounds
3.6L Pentastar V68,100 lbs2,340 pounds
RHO, trim-level rating8,370 lbs1,530 pounds

Configuration is what turns these figures into a real answer. A Crew Cab in four-wheel drive with a full tank, four passengers and a loaded bed is several hundred pounds heavier than the truck the maximum was measured on, and that weight comes off the trailer rating before you hitch anything. For a Plymouth or Marion owner launching at a South Shore ramp, the practical question is not whether the truck can pull the boat but what is left over once fuel, gear and passengers are aboard, which is why the payload column deserves as much attention as the towing one.

The RHO row is deliberately separate. It uses the High-Output Hurricane but carries its own published rating of 8,370 lbs, because the truck itself is heavier and built for a different job than the engine's general figure describes.

Wheels, Tires and Chassis Hardware

Underneath the whole range sits a 98 percent steel frame and a multi-link coil spring rear suspension, with a Class-Exclusive available Four-Corner Active-Level air suspension system that changes ride height on demand. That last item is the one worth driving back to back: on a rutted approach road or a boat ramp, being able to lower the truck to hitch and raise it to clear is a practical daily feature, not a specification-sheet flourish.

Fuel Economy by Configuration

Ten EPA configurations are published for the 2027 Ram 1500. Annual fuel cost is the EPA's own estimate at its own assumptions.

ConfigurationCityHighwayCombinedAnnual fuel cost
3.6L V6, 2WD202522$2,800
3.6L V6, 4WD192421$2,950
3.0L Hurricane SO, 2WD172420$3,100

5.7L HEMI V8, 4WD with eTorque162018$3,900
5.7L HEMI V8, 2WD152317$4,150
5.7L HEMI V8, 4WD without eTorque152217$4,150
3.6L V6 Warlock, 4WD mild hybrid171817$3,600
3.0L Hurricane HO, 4WD152117$4,450
6.2L supercharged V8, 4WD101412$6,350

EPA estimates from fueleconomy.gov. Your mileage will vary.

Read down the annual-cost column and the ownership picture separates faster than the mpg column suggests, because fuel grade moves with the engine. The 3.6L V6 and the Standard-Output Hurricane both run on regular; the 5.7L HEMI V8 is rated on midgrade; the High-Output Hurricane and the supercharged 6.2L are rated on premium. Between the most efficient V6 and the High-Output Hurricane the EPA's own estimate differs by $1,650 a year, and that gap is grade as much as consumption. For a Falmouth or Plymouth commuter putting real miles on a truck, that difference compounds faster than most option-package decisions.

Cape Cod driving works the numbers hard in both directions. Summer means long stop-and-go stretches on Route 132 and at the bridges, which is where the city figure lives and where the mild-hybrid Warlock configuration and the eTorque HEMI earn their ratings. Winter means a truck that spends more of its life at steady speed crossing the Bourne Bridge and running west, which is where the highway figure lives.

Key Features by Trim

Four trims carry their own published specification separate from the lineup figures. Every cell below is a published figure at that trim's own scope; where a manufacturer publishes nothing separate for a trim, no row is filled in for it.

Safety and Compliance

More than 100 standard and available safety and security features are offered on the 2027 Ram 1500, and over 50 inches of combined available digital displays carry the information they produce. On this peninsula the systems that earn their keep are the camera views for backing a trailer down a busy ramp, blind-spot coverage that accounts for trailer length, and the driver-assistance content that reduces fatigue on a stop-and-go run to the Bourne Bridge. Which systems are standard on a given truck is on its build sheet, and the team in Hyannis will walk the equipment list with you against the specific VIN.

The remaining coverages, and how each applies to a specific VIN, come from the service department at (508) 815-5000. Service intervals and running costs are on the service and maintenance page.

What These 2027 Ram 1500 Numbers Mean in Practice

The numberWhat it means where you drive
232.4 inches longJust over 19 feet. Longer than a standard 18-foot parking bay, so measure the driveway in Hyannis or Falmouth before you commit to a Crew Cab.
81.2 inches wide with mirrorsWider than a standard single garage opening. Fold the mirrors, or plan to park outside.
26-gallon tankRoughly 570 highway miles on the most efficient V6 configuration, so a South Shore round trip needs no fuel stop.
11,530 lbs of towingComfortably above a typical 24-foot centre console on a tandem trailer, with margin for fuel, gear and passengers.
2,340 pounds of payloadCounts people, tools and tongue weight together, not just what sits in the bed.
66.0 inches of shoulder roomThree adults across the front is genuinely usable, not just technically possible.

2027 Ram 1500 Specifications FAQs

How long is a 2027 Ram 1500?

The Crew Cab measures 232.4 inches overall, which is just over 19 feet.

How wide is a 2027 Ram 1500?

81.2 inches with the mirrors out. That is wider than a standard single garage door opening, so mirror folding matters if you plan to garage it.

Will a 2027 Ram 1500 fit in a standard garage?

Length is usually the constraint before width. At 232.4 inches a Crew Cab is longer than a standard 18-foot bay, so measure the depth of the garage as well as the door width before ordering.

How big is the bed on a 2027 Ram 1500 Crew Cab?

5.5 feet. The Quad Cab configurations are offered with a longer box.

What is the GVWR of a 2027 Ram 1500?

6,900 pounds on the Big Horn Crew Cab. GVWR is configuration-specific, so the figure on the door jamb of the individual truck is the one that governs.

How many gallons does a 2027 Ram 1500 hold?

26 gallons on the gas configurations.

How many people does a 2027 Ram 1500 seat?

Six, with 66.0 inches of front shoulder room in the Crew Cab.

Which 2027 Ram 1500 gets the best gas mileage?

The 3.6L Pentastar V6 in two-wheel drive, EPA-rated at 20 city, 25 highway and 22 combined. Figures from fueleconomy.gov.

Which 2027 Ram 1500 engine should I choose?

Match the engine to the job. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 for maximum payload and the lowest running cost, on regular fuel. The Standard-Output 3.0L Hurricane for maximum towing at 11,530 lbs properly equipped, also on regular. The 5.7L HEMI V8 for V8 character with a tow rating within 60 lbs of the Hurricane, on midgrade. The High-Output Hurricane and the supercharged 6.2L when outright performance is the point.

What does eTorque change on the 5.7L HEMI?

It changes the EPA rating. In four-wheel drive the eTorque configuration is rated 16 city, 20 highway and 18 combined, while the same four-wheel-drive truck without it is rated 15 city, 22 highway and 17 combined. The eTorque version is better in town and the non-eTorque version is better on the highway, which on Cape Cod usually favours eTorque in summer. Figures from fueleconomy.gov.

Does the RHO tow less than other Ram 1500s?

Yes. The RHO carries its own published rating of 8,370 lbs, properly equipped, because it is a heavier truck built for speed over broken ground rather than for maximum trailer weight. A Hurricane-equipped Big Horn or Laramie is the configuration to specify if towing is the priority.
