Salt reaches the underside from two directions on a peninsula, spread on the road all winter and carried in the air the rest of the year, which is why the inspection intervals on this chart matter more here than the replacement intervals do. Two things about this chart surprise people. The first is that it does not start until 20,000 miles or two years, whichever comes first. The second is that between deliveries and that first milestone, the only recurring item is the cabin air filter. That is a genuinely light first two years, and it is the honest headline of owning this vehicle.

Severe use has a specific definition here, and it is worth reading rather than assuming: the manual defines it as police, taxi, fleet, off-road or frequent trailer towing. If you pull a trailer most weekends in season, the transfer case fluid moves from a single change at 120,000 miles to changes at 70,000 and 140,000.
There is no fixed mileage. The manual instructs the owner to change the oil at every interval indicated by the oil change indicator system, which means the car works it out from how it is actually driven rather than from a number on a sticker. A summer of stop-and-go at the Cape Cod Canal crossings and a winter of long empty runs are different duty cycles, and the indicator accounts for that.

The oil grade is the one to get right. This engine calls for 0W-20, and the Compass that shares showroom space with it calls for 5W-30. They are not interchangeable, and a quick-lube counter working from a generic Jeep listing is exactly where that mistake gets made. Bring the car here or bring the manual.
At every oil change, whenever the indicator calls it. Change the oil and filter. Rotate the tires at the first sign of irregular wear, even if that comes before the indicator does. Inspect the 12-volt battery and clean and tighten the terminals. Inspect the CV and universal joints. Inspect the brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, hoses and parking brake. Inspect the engine cooling system protection and hoses. Inspect the exhaust system. Inspect the engine air cleaner filter if the car has been used in dusty or off-road conditions.
30,000 miles. Replace the engine air cleaner filter. Inspect the front and rear axle fluid and the transfer case fluid, and change them if the vehicle is used for police, taxi, fleet, off-road or frequent trailer-towing duty.
60,000 miles. Replace the spark plugs. Replace the engine air cleaner filter again. Inspect the brake linings, front suspension, tie rod ends, CV joints, axle fluid and transfer case fluid. This is the first milestone with a genuine parts replacement beyond filters.
100,000 miles. Replace the PCV valve. Inspect the brake linings, front suspension and CV joints. At ten years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first, the long-life coolant serving the engine, intercooler, hybrid battery and power electronics is flushed and replaced, and the accessory drive belt is replaced with its tensioner and pulley inspected.
Tires. There is no fixed rotation interval on this vehicle. The manual asks for rotation at the first sign of irregular wear, checked at every oil change, which puts the responsibility on inspection rather than a calendar. Standard fitment is a 225/60R18 all-season on an 18-inch alloy.
Brakes. Pads, shoes, rotors, drums, hoses and the parking brake are inspected at every oil change, and the linings get a formal inspection every 20,000 miles through 140,000. A hybrid recovers energy under braking, which means the friction brakes do less work than they would on a conventional SUV; that tends to show up as longer pad life and, on a car that lives with road salt, as more attention to corrosion than to wear.
The 12-volt battery. Inspected and its terminals cleaned and tightened at every oil change. This is separate from the high-voltage hybrid battery and it is the one that behaves like any other car battery in a cold February.
Filters. Cabin air filter every 12,000 miles, engine air cleaner filter every 30,000, and the engine air cleaner sooner than that if the car spends time on sand or dirt roads.
Fluids with no published replacement interval. The manual specifies what goes in the transaxle, the brake system and the axles but publishes no scheduled replacement mileage for them beyond the inspections above and the severe-use transfer case changes. If a shop quotes you a transaxle fluid service at a fixed mileage on this vehicle, ask which page of the schedule it is on.
The 2026 Cherokee is a first-year vehicle on a new powertrain, so there is no long ownership record to draw on yet and we are not going to invent one. And a car that spends time on permit-legal sand wants the engine air cleaner inspected more often than the chart's baseline, which the manual says in as many words. The one hybrid-specific line is the long-life coolant, which serves the engine, the intercooler, the high-voltage battery and the power electronics together and is flushed and replaced at ten years or 150,000 miles. The manual directs battery and power-electronics coolant service to an authorised dealer.
