2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Technology and Safety

A 12-inch touchscreen on every configuration, a 10.25-inch display for the front passenger, and driver assistance that keeps your hands on the wheel. Every crash-test result is here too, including the one that reads Marginal.

2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer exterior front three-quarter view

The simplest way to understand this cabin is to stop counting screens and start asking who each one belongs to. The driver gets a cluster and a central touchscreen. The front passenger can have a display of their own, which is unusual at any price. The third and second rows can have two more. Jeep totals all of it as up to 75 inches of screen space, an available-equipment total rather than the measurement of a single touchscreen.

Below: the screens seat by seat, then the driver-assistance systems and where the hands-free line actually falls, then every published crash-test result including the adverse one, and finally which configuration carries the technology you want.

Infotainment and Screens, Seat by Seat

What the driver gets

A 12-inch Uconnect 5C NAV touchscreen is standard on every configuration, base car included, which is not a given in this class. It runs Uconnect 5 with 2D and 3D mapping, wireless Apple CarPlay support and Android Auto compatibility. The wording on that last pair is Jeep's own and the distinction is real: CarPlay is specified as wireless, Android Auto as compatible.

Ahead of the driver sits a reconfigurable instrument cluster, 10.25 inches on the Grand Wagoneer and Limited, stepping to 12.3 inches as standard on Summit and available on Limited. A head-up display is available on Limited and standard on Summit.

What the front passenger gets

The 10.25-inch Front Passenger Interactive Display is the uncommon item in this cabin, available on Summit. It is a working screen rather than a decorative one: from that seat the passenger can operate the radio, Rear Seat Entertainment with Amazon Fire TV built in, HDMI input, the vehicle cameras and navigation. In practice it means the person beside you can run the route or set up a film for the children without reaching across to the center stack.

What the back gets

Rear Seat Entertainment brings dual 10.1-inch screens with USB and HDMI ports and Amazon Fire TV built in, available on Limited and Summit. Evaluate the actual rear displays, their input connections and any entertainment accounts separately from the front passenger’s controls. Jeep’s total-screen figure does not establish which combination is installed on a particular vehicle.

Audio

The range holds three. The entry Grand Wagoneer includes nine-speaker Alpine sound with a subwoofer; Limited also uses that baseline before an optional premium-audio upgrade. Summit includes 19-speaker McIntosh MX950 sound, with that system also available on Limited. At the ceiling sits the McIntosh MX1375 Reference Entertainment System: 23 speakers, a 24-channel amplifier, up to 1,375 watts and a 12-inch dual voice coil subwoofer, giving a Cape family an audio choice to compare in the cabin.

Active Driving Assist: Hands-On, Not Hands-Free

More people get this wrong than any other fact about the vehicle, so here it is without hedging. Every Grand Wagoneer carries Active Driving Assist, and none of them drives itself. The phrase Jeep uses is hands-on-wheel, eyes-on-road, and both halves are meant literally. The system will recognize a road it considers suitable, hold the vehicle between the lane markings and work the throttle and brakes. Your hands stay where they are while it does.

Jeep offers no hands-free highway system on this vehicle at any trim or price. That is worth knowing before you shop it against rivals, because some competitors in this segment do offer systems that permit hands off the wheel on mapped highways, and the two capabilities are not equivalent no matter how similar the marketing looks. Our Escalade comparison deals with exactly that difference.

The $63,995 entry Grand Wagoneer includes the coordinated assistance functions, making their operation worth learning before deciding whether a cabin upgrade serves another need. On a long run up Route 6 in summer traffic, lane centering plus adaptive cruise with stop and go removes most of the tedium of stop-start driving. It does not remove the driver.

Standard Driver Assistance

Fitted to every configuration, from the base Grand Wagoneer to the Summit Reserve:

Active Driving AssistLane centering with speed and braking management, hands-on-wheel and eyes-on-road
Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and GoMaintains a following gap and will bring the vehicle to a halt and move off again
Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path DetectionCovers the blind spot and traffic crossing behind you when reversing out
Forward warnings and automatic brakingWarns and can brake across the speed range rather than only at low speed
Pedestrian and Cyclist Emergency BrakingDetection extended beyond vehicles to people on foot and on bikes
Active Lane Management SystemLane departure warning and corrective steering assistance

Jeep describes a combined total of more than 170 standard and available safety and security features; identify the actual installed functions when assessing a vehicle. That is a marketing total rather than a checklist you can audit, but the useful point stands: the assistance content on the entry configuration is not a stripped version of what the expensive ones get.

Available Driver Assistance

Identify these optional systems on the selected vehicle before valuing the equipment package:

Intersection braking assistanceAvailable. Addresses turning and crossing conflicts at junctions
Traffic Sign RecognitionAvailable
Drowsy Driver DetectionAvailable
ParkSense Automated Park AssistOptional lower in the range, standard on Summit
360-degree Surround View CameraOptional lower in the range, standard on Summit
Dual-View Rear-Facing FamCAMSummit includes the rear-cabin camera, with availability on other configurations for buyers comparing family equipment. Night vision, zoom and split view for watching the back rows. Try the back-row view with your child seats installed

If you carry small children, FamCAM is the one to prioritize over almost anything else on that list. Being able to see a rear-facing car seat without turning around is worth more on a daily school run than any screen upgrade.

Crash-Test Ratings

Both rating bodies have published results, and they are mixed. Everything they published is below, adverse results included, because a safety section that prints only the good scores is not a safety section.

IIHS testResult
Small overlap frontGood
Moderate overlap front, updated testMarginal
Side, updated testGood
Seat belt remindersMarginal
LATCH ease of useGood

The Marginal on the updated moderate overlap front test is driven by rear-passenger chest performance. That is the result to weigh if this vehicle will routinely carry people in the second and third rows, making rear-passenger protection relevant to a three-row family comparison. Give the individual Marginal evaluations weight in the family comparison alongside the equipment you are considering. Read the ratings yourself at iihs.org.

NHTSA testResult
Overall4 stars
Overall front5 stars, with 5 driver side and 4 passenger side
Overall side, including the pole test5 stars
Rollover3 stars, with no tip in the dynamic test
Rollover risk, rear-wheel drive22.8 percent
Rollover risk, four-wheel drive21.2 percent

One detail that gets published wrongly elsewhere: the star ratings are identical for rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive Grand Wagoneers, but the rollover risk percentage is not. Rear-drive is rated 22.8 percent and four-wheel drive 21.2 percent, and quoting one figure for both is a 1.6-point error at the wrong scope. Electronic stability control, forward crash warning and lane departure warning all read Standard. Use the configuration-specific results at nhtsa.gov.

Check recall applicability by VIN, including whether a remedy has been completed; campaign descriptions alone do not establish an individual vehicle’s status. The camera-image concern in campaign 26V326000, issued 21 May 2026, involves a potentially insecure front-camera wiring connection; an affected vehicle may fail to display its rearview image. For campaign 26V414000, issued 30 June 2026, brake-control software is the concern, with potential loss of electronic stability control and electronic brake assistance. Have the VIN and remedy status checked for the vehicle being inspected. Send us a VIN and we will confirm whether a given vehicle is affected and whether its remedy has been performed.

Which Grand Wagoneer Has the Technology You Want?

If the driver-assistance content is what matters

Begin with the $63,995 entry configuration when the standard assistance functions meet the requirement, then evaluate other packages for the separate benefits they add. Active Driving Assist and the full standard suite are fitted to all seven, and no amount of extra spending adds a hands-free system, because Jeep does not offer one here.

If you carry children in the back

Prioritise FamCAM and the surround-view camera over screen size. Summit has both as standard; lower configurations can be optioned toward them. Rear Seat Entertainment is available from Limited upward.

If the passenger display is the reason

The passenger display is available on Summit. Identify it on the equipment record and demonstrate its functions in the actual cabin. There is no route to it lower in the range.

If audio is the reason

Limited with the McIntosh MX950 optioned is the cheapest route to serious sound. Summit makes it standard. The 23-speaker MX1375 belongs to the Summit Reserve package at the top of the range.

Shop Grand Wagoneer Technology at Premier Cape Cod

Arrange the Grand Wagoneer cabin demonstration with Premier Cape Cod Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram at 556 Yarmouth Rd in Hyannis; discuss the equipment you want to assess at (508) 815-5000. Learn the selected vehicle’s assistance controls and indications while parked, then assess normal operation under suitable conditions. Follow the system’s supported-road, visibility and driver-attention instructions. A drive can establish whether the controls feel familiar, while it cannot guarantee performance in every lane-marking, traffic or weather situation. Keep ordinary observation and intervention central to the assessment.

For your own Route 6 or Route 28 routine, learn the actual system’s eligibility and indications rather than assume a familiar road supports every assistance function. Keep the demonstration within normal traffic and safe operating conditions. Discuss your regular roads and the operating conditions with the team before the drive, then retain the installed-equipment record and any unresolved questions with the purchase proposal. Book a drive through our contact page, or see what is on the ground on our Grand Wagoneer inventory page.

The Premier Pure Promise

Grand Wagoneer technology choices should serve the people using each seat and screen. Premier Pure Promise adds clear buying information to that equipment review. Premier Companies has been locally family-owned since 1979. The Premier People Promise pays staff without commission, supporting a commission-free, no-pressure discussion of the functions you value. The same experience applies during the purchase and throughout ownership, whether the priority is rear-seat visibility, navigation or premium audio.

Premier Pure Price has been negotiation-free since 1995. The group states “We price our cars, not our customers,” using CarGurus, Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader comparisons in its described method of pricing against the lowest in the market. No haggling lets the cabin demonstration focus on what an equipment step contributes. Premier Transparency provides upfront prices, KBB trade values and available rates, rebates, residuals and incentives 24/7/365, so the vehicle’s actual package can stay beside its written financial terms.

With Premier Personalization, Pure & Simple, three ways to shop are in person, 100% remote or any combination. Shop online to identify a vehicle, value a trade and apply for credit. Demonstrate its actual screens and controls at the showroom, then buy online if preferred. Premier can deliver anywhere, coast to coast. Retain the chosen equipment record through the remote purchase rather than assume every display shown in a model gallery is included on that Grand Wagoneer.

Technology and Safety FAQs

Can I try Grand Wagoneer technology at Premier and buy online?

Yes. Premier Personalization, Pure & Simple supports a showroom technology demonstration followed by online buying. Retain the selected Grand Wagoneer’s fitted screens, audio and assistance record beside its written terms during the remote review. Premier can deliver anywhere; confirm the vehicle identity and purchase and delivery arrangements after the equipment questions are resolved.

Which screens does the base Grand Wagoneer get?

The base Grand Wagoneer includes a 12-inch Uconnect 5C NAV touchscreen and a separate 10.25-inch driver cluster. The passenger display belongs to the Summit equipment discussion, while rear entertainment is available on Limited and Summit. Identify the installed displays and demonstrate their functions rather than transferring the full gallery arrangement to the entry vehicle.

What can the front passenger actually do with their screen?

The available Summit passenger display supports radio, navigation, vehicle cameras, HDMI and rear entertainment with Amazon Fire TV. Try those functions from the actual passenger position before assigning value to the option. Display hardware and account-based entertainment have separate requirements, so review compatible inputs, activation and any service terms alongside the equipment record.

Does Active Driving Assist let me take my hands off the wheel?

No. Active Driving Assist requires hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. The fitted system can assist lane centering, speed and braking under its operating conditions, while the driver remains responsible for supervision and intervention. A higher Grand Wagoneer configuration does not turn that requirement into a hands-free driving mode.

What did IIHS mark the Grand Wagoneer down for?

IIHS rates the updated moderate-overlap front test Marginal, with rear-passenger chest performance relevant to that result; seat-belt reminders are also Marginal. Small-overlap front, updated side and LATCH ease of use are Good. Consider the individual evaluations alongside correct restraint use and the fitted equipment rather than summarize every safety measure with one favorable label.

Do NHTSA ratings differ between rear-drive and four-wheel drive?

The star ratings match: four overall, five front, five side and three rollover. The rollover-risk figure is 22.8 percent for rear drive and 21.2 for four-wheel drive. Keep that drivetrain distinction attached to the percentages, and consider the tested configuration and component results separately from the vehicle’s assistance feature list.

Is the McIntosh audio upgrade worth it?

Decide by listening to the fitted system with a familiar source. Entry Alpine sound has nine speakers; McIntosh MX950 adds a 19-speaker comparison on Limited or Summit, while MX1375 belongs to Summit Reserve. Premium audio can have value to your household, but speaker count alone cannot establish preference or justify every equipment step.

Which trim do I need for the surround-view camera?

Summit includes the surround-view camera and ParkSense, with those functions available lower in the range. Confirm the actual equipment before valuing it. Compare the displayed views with the surroundings during normal parking, remembering that a camera cannot establish every obstacle is represented or replace direct observation around a large vehicle.

Does the Grand Wagoneer have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?

Yes. Uconnect 5 NAV includes wireless Apple CarPlay support and Android Auto compatibility across the configurations. Try familiar navigation, calling and audio tasks with your own phone while parked. Keep phone integration separate from connected vehicle accounts and subscriptions; successful pairing does not establish that every remote or data service accompanies the purchase indefinitely.

Try the Assistance Systems Yourself

Lane centering and adaptive cruise are easy to describe and hard to judge from a page. Drive one on the roads you use every week.

Use a Grand Wagoneer test drive and cabin demonstration to evaluate the installed technology, then review financing and a trade-in for the same vehicle. Discuss service needs for its actual systems. Premier Pure Promise offers buying in person, online or through a combination, keeping the equipment and written terms together after the visit.
